The Rockin Berries'

I’ve had a gig booked playing with The Rockin’ Berries in April 2009, these guys are a genuine 1960s pop band, part of the “brumbeat” movement along with The Move and many others. The gig will take place at Arden Hall in my home town, Castle Bromwich.

A couple of months ago I went to one of the gigs at Arden Hall to see two other 1960s performers, Dave Dee and Dave Berry. I didn’t know much about these guys but they were both cool, I particularly like the weirdness of Dave Berry’s performance, surely an early influence on David Bowie?

The gig was good fun, the crowd was cool and it was all well run and organised, so I’m quite looking forward to playing there next year, although it feels like ages away…

If you’re looking for something interesting to look at on the internet, why not have a look at this youtube clip of The Rockin’ Berries, featuring a highly sexually charged and plainly hysterical introduction by Jimmy Savile. Rockin' Berries Clip

And if your even more bored than that, heres the wonderful Dave Berry being weird Dave Berry Clip And if this sort of thing really does it for you, here Dave Dee with his 1960s band, doing something very odd with a Greek sounding bit of filth. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky,

Most Recent Gig

My most recent gig was at Island Bar, Birmingham on the 29th of July. The nights are run by two cool promoters, Sam and Dale, and the gig is a good one in two important respects, (the second might be more important)

1) Its in Birmingham city centre, meaning it's quite easy for people to find

2) Its free in for punters (something we might talk about in future blogs)

Because of both of these facts, I had quite a few of the faithful there to support me, as well as some family I don't see too often, which was great.

Anyhow, here's a video of me performing Maybe a Little, the sound isn't too fantastic, but you get the feel.

Thanks to Jess for the camera and Reece for holding it!

Saundersfoot

Last week I spent five days in beautiful Saundersfoot, which is in Pembrokshire, South Wales...

This was a bit of a childhood home from home, and it was really good to visit again. I retook old steps and visited some old haunts, such as Tenby (second picture) and Pembroke Castle, I also took in some new sites too. The people I took with me seemed to really enjoy it as well, which is a relief.

I managed to miss the Dylan Thomas boat house though, must have driven straight past it. So to make up for that, I bought the Dylan Thomas Omnibus, and by Jove!

Has anyone visited Saundersfoot, Tenby or nearby?
